10 Years of Red Brick!

On January 31st 2026, Red Brick is celebrating 10 years in business! In that time, it's had a few guises - Red Brick Vintage - Red Brick Hangar - Red Brick Market and then expanding from Liverpool into Birmingham & then Sheffield! So here's a brief summary of my personal Red Brick experience ...
I first discovered Red Brick Vintage in November 2017, coming across it totally by accident when exploring and photographing the Baltic Triangle. Then, the entrance was up some steps off the courtyard (which is now Punch Tarmey) and it was in the ground floor of what used to be Cains Brewery. I have to say that I was a bit unsure going up those steps, as I had no idea what I was going to find!

My first impression was that it was rather dark but packed full of quirky things! It wasn't really split into the units that you see now, more individual areas - lots of furniture & lots of clothes, with a scattering of quirky bric-a-brac! As the name suggested, it was all ( I think) vintage / preloved. Wandering through the back of the building, lead you into a huge warehouse area that used to be the Canning Hall of the brewery (and which would later become Red Brick Market!) but when I first saw it, I think it's safe to describe it as a bit 'random'! Little did I know then, that it would transform my photography & indeed, my life!

In April 2018, the Canning Hall was transformed into Red Brick Hangar - with specially built individual units, which was an expansion of the site and aimed more at 'non vintage' things (and overspill from the original area). I'd been visiting Red Brick Vintage on a regular basis but it was a very last minute decision to join Red Brick Hangar and to actually put some of my prints up on a wall on the opening day - April 21st 2018. (see my previous Blog post - Now We Are 4). This meant that as well as the vintage side of Red Brick, there was also now lots of room for creatives, artists, makers, homewares, sellers of new clothing etc.
The next change was when Red Brick Vintage, inside the brewery, had to vacate the area for redevelopment, so many Red Brick Vintage businesses joined us in the Canning Hall, with a rename to Red Brick Market! I eventually moved from a wall space into a unit!
Next of course, we had Covid times... lock downs ... reduced personnel inside ... facemasks ... 2m distancing etc .... but we survived! Big thanks to everyone that supported us through those very uncertain times.
Then, in January 2023 Red Brick had another big change - having to leave the Canning Hall & move to a new location - the HUGE warehouse where we are now, next to the Baltic Food Market and not far from the old location (which is now Boxpark)

So here we are in 2026! Red Brick Market Liverpool still seems to be a 'hidden gem' and we need more people to know we exist, to tell others about us and to keep coming back! We can't survive without you!
Come & join us for our 10 year party on Saturday January 31st!
