Top Tips for Shopping at Caroline Benzies Photography in Red Brick Market, Liverpool

Corner of Caroline Benzies Photography's unit in Red Brick Market Liverpool. Showing framed prints / photo art

If you're planning to visit my unit in Red Brick , here's a quick guide to finding your way around, what you'll find there and how to buy my photography when I'm not in the unit.

You can find my unit not far from the main doors. Just bear very slightly left as you come in and go down the aisle in front of you (to the right of Sharky's Music T shirts!) - I'm the first unit on the right!

  1. Allow time to properly look round my unit - My unit changes regularly, as I'm usually in every week and move things around to keep it looking fresh.

I have a lot of framed prints on display, particularly some of my most popular images, but there are many more photographs available as unframed prints in the boxes. The unframed prints are fully mounted, so you can simply put them into your own frame.

If you're looking for a particular size, check both boxes. I now have a selection of images available in standard and smaller sizes, and some photographs are also available as larger Fine Art prints.

I've also separated my Gothic & Nature photography from the Liverpool collections, so you'll find those on the back wall, tall table and in the wooden box at the back of the unit.

And remember — all my work is limited edition, so if you find something you love, don't leave it too long!

  2. It's fine to take prints off the walls / ledges - Please feel free to pick up my work to get a better look at it. All I ask is that you put it back where you found it.

You can get a better look at my large fine art prints in the art rack. The unframed prints are in boxes and, to make it easier for you, I've separated them into areas - Waterfront - City - Crosby/Formby/Wirral. As with any shop, please handle things with care and leave my unit as you'd want to find it.

  3. How to buy when I'm not there - I love a good laminated sign 😁 & everything you need to know when visiting, is clearly displayed on the walls. Just take anything you want to buy to the Red Brick main desk (on the right hand side when you enter through the main doors). The main desk is cashless, so you can only pay by card/contactless. (I am happy to take cash or card/contactless when I am in my unit).

  4. Please don't just 'Snap & Go'!  - I know it's tempting to photograph a print you like and carry on, particularly if you're not ready to buy. But my photographs are artworks, not just pictures to photograph on your phone. If you find something you like, please take a photo of my name and website details or scan my QR Code instead and look me up later. You can browse my full collection online and follow me on social media to see new work, offers and where I'll be exhibiting.

  5. Empty Frames available to buy - If you want to buy a framed print and it's not available in the unit when you visit, I now have empty frames for you to buy. This means you can buy the unframed print and an empty frame, in either smaller or standard size, and take both home to frame yourself. Both sizes of frame are £10 each.

  6. Security - I have to mention this aspect of my business. Like most of Red Brick, my unit has a constantly recording CCTV camera (& signage clearly informing visitors of this). This is obviously primarily for security reasons but it also allows me to know what gets sold when, so that I can ensure that I bring in the right stock to keep my business running smoothly.

  7. Changing your mind - If you take a print out of my unit but then change your mind as you walk round the market, please bring it back to my unit or leave it with the main desk. Please don't just put it down somewhere else in the market. Red Brick is HUGE & has a lot of units & spaces, it could a long time to track it down!

  8. Accessibility - I aim to keep the floor space of my unit clear, so as to make it as accessible as possible for wheelchairs and buggies. Many prints are displayed on low units (as are my unframed prints). If you require assistance when I am not there, I'm sure the staff on the main desk will be able to help.

  9. Come back often! - I swap prints around regularly and am constantly adding new work, so there's often something different to discover.

I also quite often have a Sale Box of reduced-price prints. These are usually images I've taken off my website, so you won't necessarily find them online. I usually post on social media when I have a Sale Box and when I'll be in my unit - so follow me to keep up to date!
